Frequently Asked Questions about Knife Collecting:

1. What brands are recommended for knife collection?
There are no set rules for knife collection, so feel free to collect what you like! Popular brands however include Case, Busse, and of course discontinued models from various knife manufacturers.

2. How do I choose knives to collect?
Knives that are preferably made from Stainless Steel (for easy maintenance) and knives that are of high quality (eg. Custom made or made in USA, Japan).

3. Will the value of my knife collection go up in the future?
This is one of the most common question asked. Do not expect to rake a fortune from knife collecting. More often than not, if you do not know what you are collecting, you might even lose money! Yes, knife values do increase over time, but not like most people expect (1.5X - 2X) original retail price! This depends however on the knife and rarity.

4. What's the value of my knife? Any knife appraisal services?

We currently do knife appraisals for $2 per knife. If you would like an appraisal done, send us clear pictures of the knife and tell us what accessories the knife comes with (eg. box, sheath). We do receive large amounts of requests for appraisals, and often some of the knives are not known in the knife community. We are not able to do appraisals for such knives and will notify you if that is the case. Appraisals are only done if our members have sufficient knowledge to provide you an appraisal. Payments are accepted via Paypal only.

5. I'm losing track of my knives as the number of them increases?!
One simple solution would be to keep a table of knives by manufacturer, and put the price you bought at beside the knife. That way you can "catalog" your knives and maintain an easy check on the knife values.
