Collecting by Knife Models

This is a more specialized form of collecting rather than just focusing on manufacturers. Collectors sometimes collect a particular model from a knife company, for example a Randall #1-7 knife.

They will collect variants of the model, such as different handle materials, blade coatings, blade steels, but all of the same model (ie same shape, size, design).

As you can see from this picture, "NJRC" from Spyderco Forums has collected variants of the Spyderco Byrd in the form of different handle colors, but all of the the same model.

This makes an impressive collection, looking very uniformed but yet different in some aspects. Looks very much like a company of soldiers falling in their civilian attire!

Here we can see the various handle combinations of a Buck 110, all from the same knife model. There are different kinds of wood, stag and buffalo horn.
